Community

All this week, we are joining in the discussions with the National Housing Federation’s Rural Housing Week to show our commitment to our rural community.

Now, more than ever, rural housing associations are committed to their communities and to working together to help them thrive.

Connexus is a community-focused rural housing group with over 10,800 homes across Shropshire and Herefordshire. Our focus is to provide high-quality, affordable housing to the counties of Herefordshire and Shropshire through the development of new affordable homes, maintenance and improvement of our existing homes and the development of associated services to enhance the lives of our customers and communities.

Connexus is all about valuing our rural communities. As Chief Executive, the most important work I do is listening to the needs of our customers
Richard Woolley, Chief Executive

Chief Executive Richard has been talking to local councilors in Shropshire about the housing needs, especially in some of the smaller villages, and is committed to providing much-needed homes for those rural residents who want to stay within their community.

Homelessness is an ongoing concern in the county of Herefordshire, and Connexus is working closely with ‘Project Brave’ to help eliminate homelessness in the county. This initiative has been developed during the Covid-19 response and is now evolving to make homelessness in Herefordshire rare, infrequent, non-recurring, and short-lived.

Our development programme

The focus is on improving lives by building homes in places where people want to live and homes that they can afford to heat and live in.

We are committed to working in rural communities - building homes to ensure that those communities continue to thrive, keeping schools and facilities open by providing homes for young families with a local connection, and providing homes for those whose circumstances may have changed due to age, disability, or other life events.

In 2021-22 we anticipate providing new homes across several sites in Hereford city, Ledbury and Orleton in Herefordshire, and in Oswestry, Minsterley, Highley, Cleobury Mortimer, and Broseley in Shropshire.

In 2022-23 we will be providing further homes in Orleton, Moreton on Lugg, Canon Pyon, and Ledbury in Herefordshire and homes in Telford, St Martins, Dorrington, Bishops Castle, Ditton Priors, and Much Wenlock.

Our list is expanding all the time as we secure new build opportunities across our counties.

It’s a nice house with parking, my neighbours are all friendly. I have great scenic views of the Shropshire Hills from my windows.
Mr Lewis, Shropshire
I moved into my new home this year, I love how spacious the rooms are and how quiet the neighbourhood is.
Miss Brown, Bishops Castle
