This week's Volunteers’ Week (1st – 7th June). It's a time when we all say a huge “thank you” to volunteers and recognise their invaluable and diverse contribution to so many lives. Across Connexus there's a team of outstanding volunteers.

Volunteers like Independence Trust volunteer Linda Carter. An Independence Trust volunteer for over 35 years, Linda’s story embodies the spirit of Volunteers’ Week. Primarily supporting people with complex mental health issues, nothing is ever too much for Linda; if she can’t help you she will do everything to find someone who can. Starting drop-in centres in otherwise isolated rural communities has been one of Linda’s proudest achievements, giving support for people who do not usually have the opportunity to speak to someone who truly cares.

From cooking and gardening to music and photography classes, Independence Trust volunteers lead over 100 different groups across Gloucestershire that help to support and strengthen clients’ emotional and physical wellbeing.

Across our Herefordshire and Shropshire sites, there's a team of dedicated volunteers who represent our customers. Customer Involvement Panel members share customers’ views and improve services for customers by supporting and running a range of community projects. The panel also has a scrutiny role alongside looking in-depth at aspects of services and making recommendations for service improvement.

Volunteering can fit around your daily activities and we value our volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Sound like something you’d like to be a part of? Contact us
