Ludlow Foyer shortlisted for Ludlow Tesco Community Grants Scheme
Connexus’ Ludlow Foyer, a young persons support service has been shortlisted for the Tesco community grants scheme. Tesco Community Grants fund thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping to fight holiday hunger, tackle mental health, support young people, host community events and much more.
Three groups around Ludlow have been shortlisted to receive grants to support them and it's now down to Tesco shoppers to vote on which scheme takes home the cash.
“Anyone choosing to vote for us will be supporting homeless young people with their mental health. By voting it enables bespoke activities to take place in Ludlow to help them with their mental health, wellbeing, isolation and creativity.”
Amanda Pyke, Younger Persons Service Manager
Ludlow Foyer opened its doors in 2000, is a housing project that provides accommodation for young people aged 16-25 and is linked to training.
Residents are given opportunities to gain new skills, either by taking up formal education courses or getting involved in centre-led projects. The training is individually tailored to each resident to enable them to become more independent, so that eventually they can take on a tenancy of their own.
Ludlow Foyer's mission is to provide a safe and supported environment for young people to gain the confidence to lead their lives in the community, often achieving new skills and making new friends along the way.
Voting is open at Tesco Ludlow from April and runs until the end of June.
