Fringe festival finds funding for eco-friendly fair
Carnival time returns to the streets of Ludlow as part of the Fringe Festival’s tenth anniversary.
When Connexus heard that the Ludlow Fringe Festival was looking for funding for its Eco Carnival, it was happy to step up and support its return.
A three week celebration of the arts, the Ludlow Fringe Festival are back for their tenth anniversary from 18 June to 10 July 2022. This year they’re kicking things off with the return of the Ludlow Carnival – but with a twist. Themed around “Our Beautiful Earth”, the carnival will celebrate all things eco, rejecting fossil fuels in favour of people and pedal power.
Ludlow Fringe Festival is a community arts project, delivering social, creative sessions where you can learn new skills, meet new friends and work together on something big, bold and spectacular. As well as the Carnival, they’ll be taking workshops into schools, libraries, sports clubs and retirement accommodation.
This type of event, involving the whole community made the Eco Carnival the perfect fit for Connexus’ Community Development Fund, which offers grants of up to £5000 to local projects across Shropshire and Herefordshire. The Eco Carnival received £3000 towards the costs of the event from the fund.
Jacqui Gears, Communities Manager at Connexus, said: “We’re proud to support the Eco Carnival at the launch of the Ludlow Fringe Festival. The themes of the Eco Carnival and the celebration of local people, places and organisations made it the perfect fit for a grant from our Community Development Fund. It’ll be fantastic to see the whole local community come together for the rejuvenation of carnival time in Ludlow.”
If you have a community project that would like to apply for funding, you can kick things off by filling out the form on our website.
