Matt Pitt, people director at Connexus said: “This reflects our continued investment in local talent and rural opportunity. Apprenticeships are a vital part of our approach to tackling the challenges faced by rural communities – from limited job opportunities to the need for skilled tradespeople who understand the unique needs of our homes and customers.”

Connexus received 46 applications for this apprenticeship intake, and 36 candidates were interviewed. The interview process included practical and knowledge based assessments which allowed candidates to showcase their passion for the trade.

Over the coming weeks, the new apprentices will be working alongside experienced mentors, gaining hands-on experience while studying towards their Level 2 NVQ in Property Maintenance.

Matt added: “As outlined in our Rural Voice campaign, we’re committed to creating opportunities for people of all ages to thrive in the places they call home. Apprenticeships help us do just that – offering career pathways, boosting local employment, and ensuring our services are shaped by people who live and work in our communities.

“We’re proud to support the next generation of property maintenance apprentices and look forward to seeing them grow and succeed.”
