Beware of disrepair ‘claim farmers’

Be wary of approaches by ‘claims farmers’ or ‘no win, no fee’ legal firms trying to encourage you to make a legal claim instead of reporting the repairs or making a complaint to Connexus.

If your home needs a repair, there are delays with repairs, or you’re unhappy with a repair, please speak to us first before considering making a legal claim. We know we don’t always get it right, but our complaints policy and the housing ombudsman service are available to you if you're unhappy with our services.

While these claims farmers will say they’ve made successful cases in the past, they probably won't tell you the whole story. Customers of these firms will have to sign a Conditional Fee Agreement which gives them a percentage (usually between 25% and 50%) of any compensation or damages. There may also be legal costs to pay too.  This means that you will be left with very little, if any, compensation.

If you come directly to us, we will be able to carry out the repair, and if you’re unhappy with the service and make a complaint, any compensation you're awarded will go to you, less any money owed.
