Connexus has won the Safety Leadership & Board Participation Award at this year’s ASCP Awards.

Held this year at Celtic Manor in Newport, the awards are dedicated to safety and compliance in the social housing and facilities management sectors.

The win follows significant work over the past few years to strengthen the organisation’s internal controls, improve reporting and engagement with the board and increase visibility of key risks, including those relating to health and safety and compliance.

Laura Fullwood, senior compliance co-ordinator at Connexus said: “We were so pleased to win the award. The compliance team has gone through a period of massive change in the last few years, and everyone involved has worked exceptionally hard, so to be recognised for the hard work at this event was brilliant.

“I am so proud to not only work for Connexus but also to work with such a dedicated team who give 100% day-in day-out to make sure our customers are safe in their homes.”

The award comes hot on the heels of improved governance and financial viability ratings issued by the Regulator of Social Housing, which highlighted improvements Connexus had made in reporting and health and safety.

Earlier this year, the organisation publicly pledged to continue listening and involving customers in its health and safety work as part of National Social Housing Safety and Compliance Week.
