Since opening as our first Passivehaus scheme in 2018, the development of 12 affordable homes in Much Wenlock, Shropshire has risen to prominence both in and out of our sector. Today (18/04/21) the development's included as one of Britain's Greenest Streets by The Sunday Times

This well-deserved accolade comes off the back of sector wins including; low energy project of the year at the 2019 Structural Timber Awards and a shortlisting in the 2019 Inside Housing Awards. Why? Because the Passivehaus standard, along with architectural partner Architype are committed to low energy sustainable homes, as are Connexus. So when twinned with our commitment for high-quality affordable homes, the results, really do speak for themselves.

Resident Lynn Quinn, who moved from a 1940s property to one of the new Connexus Passivehaus, saw her gas bills fall from £110 to £10 per month.

We lived in a 1940s former council house before and the change has been extraordinary. The air is continuously filtered, extracting stale air, and it feels like a much healthier place to live.

We're really proud of our development in Much Wenlock, not only is it one of the country's whole streets of Passivehaus homes but one of the only affordable streets too.

Connexus was drawn to the Passivhaus standard because as well as creating very natural and healthy buildings, customer's also benefit from very low energy bills, helping people who are struggling to pay bills (known as living in fuel poverty).

This reduction in energy use and thus bills, is a key objective for us. The insights we've collected from our new build homes (like Callaughton's Ash), are being used to shape the upgrade of our older homes so that all Connexus homes meet SAP rating C or above by 2030.
